The Capsule Series

Capsule 4: 'M.C. Escher'

Collaborative artists Anna Stephens and Dorothee Perin present the last in a series of four dynamic installations, each based on a character (fictional or real). The series is an exploration into the chosen personalities evoking thoughts, memories and ideas about the character's environment and life.

The fourth character is MAURITS CORNELIS ESCHER, a Dutch graphic artist with an eye for the mathematical and the miniscule. His geometric drawings and etchings are both fantastical and intriguing. Rather than a sculptural biography, the room is a surreal environment alluding to his overall character (both conscious and unconscious).

Section Six Gallery is a night time window gallery, only viewable from the street. However for this show only the gallery will be open to the public for one hour a day between 7pm and 8pm.

Patrick Goddard
"A Slow Humour in the Land of the Immortal Prankster"

24th June - 20th July

Patrick Goddard's new solo show is a four piece installation. A life size sculpture of a man is literally glued to the window. At once comic and eerie he is either swatted against the gallery's large window or attempted to jump at it. His face is squashed against the window as if an invisible force is holding him there. The empty space behind this is barely lit by an advertisement light box on a constant cycle of changing screens all of which have been left blank whilst a pigeon quizzically observes the scene from the rafters that make up the gallery ceiling. All the while the second hand of a clock twitches without rotating on the wall.
Goddard's window installation is a Kafkaesque play on the mundane exploring the conundrum of mortality and life's absurdities.
